lessons
Lessons take place for 30 minutes once a week. The time of each lesson will change so children won’t regularly miss the same class lesson.
Payment
Tuition rates for 2023/4 are £200 per term. 10 lessons are provided each term.
Fees will be collected by Direct Debit through Go Cardless at the beginning of each term.
missed lessons
Lessons missed due to school trips or teacher absence will be rescheduled. If there are not enough weeks in the term to reschedule, a credit will be given towards the next term’s fees.
Lessons missed due to pupil absence will be rescheduled if possible but this is not guaranteed.
exams
The booking of music exams is the responsibility of the teacher and should not be done by parents. Exams are optional, and are subject to extra fees. This will be discussed in advance with parents before booking.
practice
Regular practice is essential for your child to get the most out of lessons. Notes will be given each week on what children should be practising at home. You are welcome to email me any time with any questions about their practice. Please make sure children bring their practice diary to their lesson each week and that you read and sign it for pupils in Pre-Prep.
communication
You are welcome to contact me any time with any questions, queries or concerns. Please send me an email if possible, as it is easier for me to reply between lessons.
notice period
One full term’s notice is required before stopping lessons. This includes the summer break. ie. If you do not wish to continue lessons in September please let me know at the start of the term in April. If you are unsure whether your child should continue please talk to me- I will give you some honest advice!
Other teachers
Having more than one piano teacher is most often a recipe for confusion. Teachers may introduce concepts in a different order, or use different terminology to refer to rhythms and note names. In addition, they may disagree on when students are ready for exams and performances. For this reason, I ask that students signed up for lessons with me do not take formal instruction with anyone else without talking to me about it first. This doesn’t apply to informal tuition from friends and family members!
